Love the concept. Excellent place for sharing. Food was truly authentic and delicious yet revamped into a fun and modernized way. The roasted eggplant, bread, and yogurt were perfect as a starter - fresh, authentic flavours. The tahdig (crispy rice) sent me back to Iran - perfectly curated and presented with finesse; a must. The best of the mains in my opinion were the classic koobideh and ghormeh sabzi. The koobideh kabob was juicy, and just a punch of Persian flavours. The ghormeh sabzi was, I think, the best dish of the night. Chef used short rib with literally melted with the entire dish - a must get. No chance I go to a Persian restaurant and not get Persian Ice cream - was the best way to end the meal; also a must try. The atmosphere was very nice. For a Tuesday night, the place was packed. The decor was very appealing and not too pretentious which I really liked. They were also playing solid Persian music but not the kind that gives you a headache which was a vibe. Critique: The service was honestly whack. Our waiter lowkey had no clue what he was doing. He was friendly but like was never there to bring us more water or to clear our plates. An unfortunate shame. This restaurant takes a contemporary twist on delicious Persian classics with some additional unique dishes. Prices were fair for the solid quality. Service needs improvement. Overall, would highly recommend (duh)!!

An amazing experience, in my top 5 in NYC. The flavors are so complex, and I love that different dishes pair well together - the shallot yogurt with the lamb ribs with the sambusas, oh my! We loved the wine list and the saffron cocktail left us wanting to come back on a lazy saturday to get some more. The place has an airy, garden vibe that's beautiful and earthy - perfect for a birthday party, date night, or whatever. Service - staff were amazingly sweet, new their menu, and were patient as we tried to navigate learning about Persian cuisine.

I had been meaning to come to Eyval for a long time and I am so happy I finally made it! My fiancé and I came on a date on a Friday night at 7pm. I did have to make a reservation with a few weeks in advance to be safe but it was very easy to do through Resy. The restaurant is super cute, spacious, and has a very open, bright, and fresh feel to it thanks to its white tile walls and simple decor. However, when the sun sets, these red neon lights on their walls start to pop more and give the restaurant a nice warm, romantic glow (the daytime to nighttime vibe transformation was actually really impressive). Our waitress was super nice and helped give us a sense of how much to order. She was attentive of our table without making us feel rushed or hovered over. For drinks we got the Saffron Martini and the Persian Garden Spritz, which were both very good although the martini was a little sweet/syroupy for my taste and I preferred the refreshing feel of the spritz. The true star of the show for me were all the amazing dishes we had. We ordered a lot so bear with me: - Barbari bread: there were two options for bread but we chose this one since our waitress described it as more hearty, savory, and baguette like whereas the Komaj is sweeter and more eggy. The barbari bread was truly amazing. It came warm, had a salted, crispy exterior, and doughy, not too dense and soft interior that reminded me of the inside of a very good bagel. Went very well with the spread below. - Whipped feta: amazing quality feta topped with fresh herbs, nutty walnuts and with a hint of oil that I believe also had herbs in it. The feta was creamy and silky, with the perfect level of saltiness. Super satisfying to spread. I think the name was a bit misleading since I expected a lighter/more airy consistency and it ended up being as dense as cream cheese. Still amazing but I was expecting something a bit more different. - Eggplant: another hit! The eggplant was soft, caramelized, and well seasoned. It was topped with a glorious combination of crispy fried onions and garlic chips, nutty walnuts, and balanced out by this creamy, tangy yogurt sauce that really tied everything together so well. I put some of this over the tahdig (below) and it was a glorious combination. - Tahdig: best tahdig I've had. Small enough that every bite has a delightful crisp. Amazingly seasoned rice. It came with a sweet and tangy pomegranate tomato sauce as the base which I really enjoyed. The pistachios and barberries on top added another delicious layer of flavors. - Lamb ribs: this dish is the reason I came here and it definitely did not disappoint. These literally fell off the bone and the meat melted in your mouth. The lamb was sooo unbelievably tender and had the most beautiful caramelized tamarind-date glaze that was crispy and perfectly charred on the edges. The sweet flavors were well balanced with the savory seasoning of the lamb, and the delightfully spicy kick from the peppers. I am already hoping to come back just for these. Don't think twice about ordering them! They are worth it. - Saffron half chicken: I was surprised at how amazing this dish also was. The chicken was incredibly tender, flavorful, and had a perfectly crispy skin. It was well seasoned with the deep flavors of saffron and came over the best rice I've had in a long time! The rice was super fluffy, and full of complex flavors and textures with the barberries, carrots, golden raisins, almonds. Additionally, they serve this with a little jar of steaming hot chicken stock on the side which you can add to the rice to make it even more flavorful. I need to have this rice again in the fuyur - Saffron ice cream sandwich: had to try this because it seems to be the dessert most featured in all the videos online. Super aesthetic, perfect to share between two, and really good! The saffron ice cream was creamy, and had a delicious flavor that was well complemented by the nutty pistachios. If you like ice cream, this is a really nice dessert! Less messy to eat than I expected. The vanilla wafer it comes with is also very good. - Rose cream cake: hot take but I think this is was actually better than the ice cream sandwich. This dessert is a hidden gem. If you like strawberry shortcake, definitely order this (I'm not even the biggest fan but this was incredible!) The cake was so spongy and fluffy, with a delightful cardamom flavor, balanced out by this sweet cream filling with tangy strawberries and the flavor of rose water. Super light, complex, and not too sweet. Overall, I was completely blown away by this place. From the really nice ambiance, the amazing service, to the exceptional dishes. I did not have a single bad bite while eating here. I highly highly recommend this place!!
